WESTOVER – After losing all three games last week by a combined score of 37-6 (Glendale, Elk County Catholic and DuBois Central Catholic), the Curwensville girls softball team unloaded on the Harmony Lady Owls Monday afternoon in Westover, 16-0 in a game that was called after five innings due to the mercy rule.
Lady Tide hurler Rachel LeGars went the distance for the win giving up just two hits, striking out four and allowing no walks.
Curwensville third baseman Sabrina Spencer was the offensive star with four hits, three RBIs and three runs scored. Spencer had the game’s only extra base hit, a double.
Mackenzie Anderson, Ally Hess and Alex Zattoni each had two RBIs in the Curwensville rout.
Scoring two runs apiece for the Lady Tide were Anderson, Zattoni, Bailey Bloom and Abby Pentz .
Dorey Westover and Brooklyn Boring had the lone singles for the Lady Owls.
Tuesday will be a long day for the Lady Tide, now 7-7 on the year, as they travel to Sheffield to play a doubleheader against the Lady Wolverines. Game one starts at 3 pm.
