CLEARFIELD – A Philipsburg man accused of burglarizing a garage in Cooper Township pleaded guilty Monday in Clearfield County Court.

Carl Jonathon Webster, 21, was sentenced to nine months to two years less one day in jail and one year consecutive probation for burglary, conspiracy and theft by unlawful taking by President Judge Fredric J. Ammerman.

Webster must pay over $1,000 in restitution.

Prior to sentencing, Ammerman noted that Webster had never been in jail before and commented that the guns in this case were a problem.

First Assistant District Attorney Ryan Dobo said that he was not going to ask for a state sentence for Webster, adding that he did cooperate with police.       The charges stem from an incident on Sept. 9 when the owner saw Webster and others leaving his garage before they fled in a white vehicle.

Missing from the garage were tools, firearms and four dirt bikes.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, police on the way to the crime scene spotted a SUV matching the description of the perpetrators’ vehicle crashed on the side of the road.

Three men, including Webster, were in the SUV with some of the things reported missing from the garage.

Webster told police that they had been in the garage three different times. He claimed he was the “look out,” as the others removed the items which were taken to another garage.

When police checked that garage, they found a firearm in Webster’s backpack and other stolen merchandise.

Also charged in this case is Jordan Isaac Bair, 19, Mount Joy, who allegedly admitted to police that he and two other people took the dirt bikes. His case is still pending.
