CLEARFIELD – During the month of March, Penelec employees in Clearfield, Philipsburg and DuBois raised money and collected food as part of the annual “Harvest for Hunger” program for Clearfield County.

This year, employees raised $1,959 for local food pantries.  Penelec began the Harvest for Hunger program in 2002 and locally has collected more than $23,000 over the past 17 years.

Central Pennsylvania Community Action is the lead agency for eight food pantries operated in Centre County and 10 in Clearfield County, providing oversight for State Food Purchase Program (SFPP) dollars and the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) funding.

Area food pantries struggle to meet the increasing needs of local residents.  For more information on how you can help, please call Community Action at 814-765-1551.
