LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP – A police pursuit ended in a motor vehicle crash during the early-morning hours Wednesday in Lawrence Township.

Police stopped a vehicle after a traffic violation in the area of Patton Street. When officers attempted to make contact, the male driver began to flee.

A pursuit ensued through the Kerr Addition area and onto River Road. The suspect vehicle reportedly attempted to negotiate a right-hand turn onto High Level Road at a high rate of speed.

The driver lost control of the vehicle, which rolled over, police said. When contact was made with him, it was determined that he was allegedly under the influence of a controlled substance.

His passenger was ejected from the vehicle. Both males were flown to UPMC Altoona for medical treatment, according to the police report.

Police said a search of the vehicle was conducted and officers seized controlled substances and paraphernalia. Charges are expected to be filed against both males.

Lawrence Township police were assisted at the scene by the Clearfield Borough police, a state police forensic team and the Lawrence Township Fire Department.
