CLEARFIELD – Do you want to plant a garden but don’t have adequate space? Do you wish to enjoy garden produce but don’t want to take up grass from your own yard? Or would you like a nice garden but without all the work?

The Salvation Army offers a community garden, which could be a possible solution for you. For $15, you can have a garden plot that measures 25X14 to plant seeds of your choice.

Garden plots are now ready but are being purchased quickly. All the garden work is completed by Salvation Army volunteers.

The $15 contribution helps with garden supplies. It’s also a fundraiser that helps serve Clearfield residents with the Salvation Army’s food pantry and emergency financial assistance programs.

To select a plot, visit the Clearfield Salvation Army office between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, in order to complete the required paperwork.

Donations will be accepted to benefit the community garden. Volunteers are also needed to assist with its maintenance.

Part of the garden will be designated to produce for the volunteers who work there, as well as to be distributed in the food pantry.

It was noted that volunteers who are only working in the garden and who will not be in the building will not need clearances. If you are interested in volunteering, please call 814-765-4981
