DUBOIS – The Penn State DuBois Veterans Club will hold at 5K run and one-mile walk to benefit the club’s fund drive for the installation of a campus veterans’ memorial.

The event is planned for April 21, at the Beaver Meadow Walkway in DuBois. Registration is scheduled from 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., with the race slated for 9:30 a.m.

Club members are raising funds for the production and installation of a memorial to honor all students, past, present and future who have served in the armed forces.

The granite, keystone shaped stone will feature the seals of all five branches of the U.S. military, as well as an inscription memorializing student veterans of the campus.

Club members plan to employ R.D. Brown Memorial of Punxsutawney to create the monument, which will stand four feet high and three feet wide. It is to be placed in Schoch plaza, a central open space on campus.

To register for the 5K, or the walk, contact Sueann Doran at srd145@psu.edu or 814-375-4716.

Registration forms are also available on campus at the Veterans’ Resource Center in Room 208 of the DEF Building.
