DUBOIS – On Monday night, the Sandy Township Supervisors approved the conditional use permit for the Robertson elder cottage.
According to township officials, it will be the first elder cottage in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The moveable structure will be owned by Mature Resources, a subsidiary of the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging Inc.
It will be rented to Kimberly Robertson’s father for 30 percent of his income. When he no longer lives there, it will be moved to another property.
In other business, Sandy Township officials delayed making a decision in regards to the Kiwanis Trail extension. Officials would like to further research the costs.
Township Engineer Perry Bowser reported that the contractor wanted to begin the work that was partially dependent on the extension.
Bowser explained that the budget did not include a line item for the Kiwanis Trail pipeline extension. However, he said the inflow and infiltration surcharge has been generating more funds than expected by this point.
According to him, it’s contributed to the $16,000 that could be used toward the extension. When asked, he said the cost would be $15-18,000 for just the extension. He said it could be approximately $30,000 with the addition of stone and paving work.
After the meeting, township Manager Dave Monella said bids had been received for the potential sale of the water and sewer system. He said it could take months for the review process.
