CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Fair Queens for a Cause charity will be hosting a Pittsburgh Steelers Footballers Basketball Game against the Clearfield County All-Stars on Sunday, March 25, at 2 p.m., at the Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School’s Bison Gymnasium. Doors will open at 1 p.m.

A select group of six to eight members of the Pittsburgh Steelers, known as the Pittsburgh Steelers Footballers Basketball Team, will demonstrate their athletic talents against the Clearfield County All-Stars, which is comprised of local men and women.

There are still openings on the Clearfield County All-Star team. A participation fee of $250 per player will be charged. Players must be age 18 or older and may solicit sponsors.

If interested in playing or sponsoring a player, please e-mail clfdfairqueen@yahoo.com by March 15. The sponsorship includes a spot on the team, signage the day of the event, logo on the back of the game shirt and four tickets to the game.

Tickets are $7 and can be purchased until Friday, March 23 at the Clearfield County Fair & Park Board Office, Clearfield YMCA and the DuBois City police station.

Tickets will also be sold at the door the day of the event. Anyone who purchases tickets by March 23 will be entered to win preferred seating behind the Steeler Basketballers Team.

This year marks the eighth year this event will be brought to the area. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Clearfield County Fair Queens for a Cause charity supporting Brock Roy, a local boy fighting back against childhood cancer; the Children’s Miracle Network; and other local charities.

As in prior years, an autograph session will be held during halftime. Two lines will be established at opposite ends of the gymnasium, each consisting of three tables with at least three Steelers signing.

Fans are encouraged to bring their favorite Steelers’ item to be autographed. Security personnel will be on duty to ensure a smooth and speedy transition through the lines.

Due to strict time restrictions, no photographs will be permitted while going through the autograph lines. A concession stand will also be available.

Since the Queens for a Cause charity’s inception in 2002, more than $174,000 has been raised in support of the Children’s Miracle Network and other other local causes.
