CLEARFIELD – The board of directors of CNB Financial Corp. and CNB Bank recently announced the retirement of William F. Falger, effective Dec. 15, 2017, following 21 years of distinguished service to the organization’s board of directors.
Acknowledging Falger’s service, Peter Smith, board chairman, stated, “CNB’s growth is the result of two things – terrific employees and great leadership. Bill’s strong and steady hand guided CNB into new markets and through the turbulence of 2008.
“On behalf of the board and our shareholders, I thank Bill and wish him all the best in retirement.”
Falger has served on the board of directors since 1996. He served on several committees over the years while most recently offering his expertise to the Asset & Liability, Independent Directors, Loan and Discount and Strategic Planning committees, as well as being a chairperson for the Enterprise Risk Management committee.
Falger began his career with the corporation in 1989 when he was hired as senior lender of CNB Bank. He then served as president and chief executive officer of CNB Bank from 1993-2009.
Under his leadership and time on the board, the company has grown from a community bank with $270 million in assets to a very successful regional bank with four divisions and $2.75 billion in assets.
When thinking back over his years of service, Falger stated, “It has been an honor and privilege to be a part of the CNB family over the past 28 years. I am confident that our past success will continue under the excellent leadership of our board and management.”
Falger also served the community in various ways throughout his career. He was a board member for the Clearfield County Industrial Development Authority and chairman of the Clearfield County Economic Development Corp., now known as Clearly Ahead Development, during the acquisition and redevelopment of the former Harbison-Walker refractory site and Berg Electronics.
Falger served on the board of the Clearfield Hospital and University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Campus, in addition to being the treasurer of the Board of Trustees for the Punxsutawney Campus of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
