CLEARFIELD – A Reynoldsville woman accused of being involved in an area methamphetamine ring pleaded guilty Tuesday during sentencing court.
Cassidy Lynn Kaizer, 34, was one of 30 people arrested by authorities in “Operation Ice Storm” in March 2016.
These arrests were the result of a year-long investigation of heroin and methamphetamine distribution that involved the DuBois City and Sandy Township police departments, the Clearfield County Drug Task Force, the District Attorney and the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General.
Kaizer pleaded guilty Tuesday to criminal conspiracy/possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance-methamphetamine, which is an ungraded felony.
She was sentenced by Judge Paul E. Cherry to 90 days to one year in jail and one year consecutive probation. This sentence will run consecutive to a parole revocation sentence of 75 days in jail.
According to grand jury testimony, Eric McDonald was at a residence occupied by Kaizer and Nathan Smith on West Long Avenue in DuBois when police searched that apartment at the end of August of 2015.
Officials found several items used to manufacture meth. The area was evacuated as a precaution.
Kaizer testified before the grand jury that McDonald asked if he could use her residence to store his equipment for making meth and if he could make meth there. Smith testified before the grand jury that McDonald stayed one day before returning to another woman’s apartment.
Smith, 33, pleaded guilty in December to possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and criminal conspiracy. He was sentenced to six months to one year in jail and two years consecutive probation.
McDonald, 32, pleaded guilty in October to possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal conspiracy/possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, operating a meth lab, risking a catastrophe and possession of red phosphorus. He received a sentence of four to eight years in state prison.
