CLEARFIELD – A Woodland woman has been accused of being found with drugs, various paraphernalia and in unlawful possession of a firearm during a homicide investigation in late August.

Chantell Renee Demi, 26, has been charged by Clearfield-based state police with manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, F; possession of firearm with manufacturer number altered, F2; firearms not to be carried without a license, F3; intentional possession of a controlled substance, M; and use/possession of drug paraphernalia, M.

Demi waived her right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday during centralized court at the Clearfield County Jail. Her bail has been set at $100,000 monetary, and she’s currently incarcerated at the jail.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Aug. 31, a K9 trooper was assisting with a homicide investigation. Troopers were canvasing Clearfield Borough looking for Demi, who was wanted for the purposes of questioning. Demi was believed to be driving a 2005 silver Chevrolet Impala.

In the area of North Third Street, the K9 trooper observed the Impala. He subsequently conducted a traffic stop, and identified Demi as the operator of the vehicle. He also detected the odor of burnt methamphetamine emitting from inside.

A second trooper was requested to assist and remain with Demi while the K9 trooper conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle. His search allegedly yielded a revolver with a scratched off serial number that Demi had concealed without a license to carry.

During his search, he allegedly seized a digital scale, glass pipes, packages of stamp baggies, latex gloves, unknown pills that were packaged for sale and an assortment of paraphernalia.

Trooper Matthew Gray conducted an interview with the owner of the Impala. However, she stated she hadn’t seen the vehicle in approximately two days when Demi and her son, Denny Bailey, got the keys for it.

She stated the couple was supposed to return the vehicle that day but did not bring it back. Gray asked about the contents of her vehicle, and she indicated there wouldn’t be drugs or a firearm inside it. She also wasn’t aware of it being used by anyone other than Demi and Bailey.

Bailey, 36, has also been charged by Clearfield-based state police with possession of a firearm with manufacturer number altered, F2, and possession of a firearm prohibited, F2.

Bailey’s bail has been set at $100,000, and he’s incarcerated in county jail. His preliminary hearing has been set for 11 a.m. Sept. 27 during centralized court.
