RIDGWAY TOWNSHIP – A 70-year-old Johnsonburg woman, Theresa A. Steudler, has been accused of stabbing her husband Monday at a Silver Creek Road residence in Ridgway Township.

According to Ridgway-based state police, Steudler engaged in a verbal altercation with her 73-year-old husband. At some point, she allegedly stabbed him in the upper, right chest area with a knife.

State police were called by a family member who was inside the residence but who did not witness the couple’s altercation.

Steudler was taken into custody without incident and charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

She was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge James L. Martin. She was lodged in the Elk County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.

State police say Steudler’s husband was initially treated at Penn Highlands Elk Hospital. He was then flown to Altoona Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

State police were assisted by Johnsonburg and Ridgway Ambulance Services.
