GRAHAM TOWNSHIP – Clearfield County Coroner Mike Morris has identified the man who was killed in a fatal hit-and-run crash Thursday night in Graham Township. Morris identified the man as Boyd R. Shirey, 77, of Morrisdale.
According to previously published GANT News reports, the crash occurred at 9:30 p.m. in the 3800 block of Deer Creek Road in Graham Township, not far from the Morris Township line.
Shirey had reportedly exited his vehicle to remove a dead deer from the northbound lane of the roadway. He was subsequently struck and killed by another vehicle.
State police say the impact sent Shirey off the eastern side of the roadway and into a grassy field. The vehicle, a silver-colored 2013 Ford Focus, fled the scene northbound.
Upon further investigation, state police identified the driver of the vehicle as a 19-year-old woman. She was not identified in the crash report.
State police were assisted at the scene by the Morris Township and Winburne fire departments, Moshannon Valley Emergency Medical Services and Morris.
