CLEARFIELD – Local police have released more details about a night-long stand-off that occurred in the 800 block of Daisy Street in Clearfield Borough.

According to Clearfield Borough police, officers were requested to check the welfare of a 52-year-old man at 9:26 p.m. Sunday. He was reportedly attempting to hang himself on Facebook Live.

When police arrived at the residence, they made contact with the man outside. He was irate and very angry with his fiancée and police but was not attempting to harm himself.

Police gave the man several verbal warnings about his behavior for creating a disturbance in public.   Police then attempted to meet with the complainant to obtain more information.

At 11 p.m., police were requested to assist Clearfield-Jefferson Mental Health personnel with serving a warrant for an involuntary emergency examination and treatment.

At 12:30 a.m., a neighbor allegedly observed the male standing on the front porch of his residence with a gun.  Police attempted to make contact with him numerous times with negative results.

At 1:14 a.m., the man tossed a firework from a window on the second floor and was allegedly observed and heard barricading himself inside the residence.

The Pennsylvania State Police Emergency Response Team was activated and responded to the scene to assist with negotiations and operations.

The man was eventually taken into custody at 6:45 a.m., police said, and transported to the Penn Highlands Hospital for an evaluation.

Police were also assisted at the scene by the Clearfield County Emergency Management Agency, Lawrence Township police and the Clearfield Volunteer Fire Department.
