DUBOIS – An Olanta woman accused of threatening to shoot her husband waived her right to a preliminary hearing Friday during centralized court at District Judge Pat Ford’s office.
Julie Joann Mease, 48, was originally charged with terroristic threats, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. On Friday, the terroristic threats charge was withdrawn. Her bail was set at $25,000 unsecured.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on June 30 the couple had an argument at their residence that became “heated” with name calling and threats being made. Mease went to her bedroom where she retrieved her Smith and Wesson Governor .45 Colt revolver.
She went outside to the porch and then came back inside, leaving the door open, police said. After she told her husband that she wanted him to leave, she reportedly fired off one round through the open door toward the road.
She then allegedly pointed the gun at her husband and told him that she would kill him if he did not leave the residence. Her husband left.
When police arrived at the residence, she was not there. When she returned she was taken into custody and the gun was found in her truck. There were six rounds in it. She told police she took out the empty cartridge and put in another round.
The spent cartridge was found in a garbage can, according to the report.
