CLEARFIELD – Agricultural animals are causing problems in Clearfield Borough.
At Thursday’s Clearfield Borough Council work session, Code Enforcement Officer Larry Mack asked the council to consider an ordinance regulating agricultural animals within the borough.
Mack said there have been “severe problems” with chickens, goats, pigs, guinea fowl and ducks being kept on properties within the borough.
Mack said the chickens have been problematic because they’ve been flying into other people’s yards. He said the guinea fowl can be extremely loud and the feces from all the animals have been “terrible.”
Mack said there is presently no ordinance to regulate these types of animals. He asked permission to put together an ordinance to help alleviate the problems.
Also at the meeting, Street Department Foreman Todd Kling discussed work the road crew did at Rebecca Park.
Kling said the street department has cut down several trees, put a new roof on the pavilion, spread mulch and other maintenance. He said volunteers built a new sign for the park, which was put up in the park.
Kling said the park had been neglected for quite some time. He said now the park is looking great. He said it’s something the residents can be proud of.
Kling also said the crew has been busy patching the streets and using the street sweeper to clean. He said depending on the temperatures, the crew is looking to start painting lines on the streets.
Kling said while the crew is still short-staffed, they are still getting a lot of work done.
