BOSWELL – The Curwensville girls softball scheduler should add a few more doubleheaders for the Lady Tide as it swept North Star yesterday in Boswell, 15-0 and 8-2.
Earlier this season the Lady Tide also swept Sheffield in doubleheader action.
Curwensville is now 4-5 on the year.
The bats were hot in game one Saturday as the Lady Tide banged out a total of 18 hits that included four doubles.
Ariel Zattoni, Lauren Tozer and Keisha Maines each led the hit parade with three apiece. One of Tozer’s hits was a double, as the first baseman had a game high three RBI’s.
Picking up two hits each for the Tide was Hannah Dixon, Kayley Harnett and Camryn Richards. Harnett and Dixon each had a double with Bailey Bloom getting the fourth two bagger.
Curwensville picked up eight stolen bases with Dixon leading the way with four.
Richards, Zattoni and Mackenzie Anderson all had two RBI’s.
The Lady Tide ended the game with a seven run third inning and after holding North Star scoreless in the bottom of the third the game was called with the 15 run mercy rule coming into play.
Rachel LeGars picked up the easy win for Curwensville which helped even her 2017 record at 2-2.

GAME 2
The Lady Tide smacked out 14 base hits in game two afternoon, picking up the doubleheader sweep over North Star 8-2.
The big innings for Curwensville were the fourth and fifth as the Lady Tide scored three and two runs respectively.
Tide shortstop Kayley Harnett paced the offense with four hits that included two doubles and four RBI’s.
Third baseman Hannah Dixon scored four times and added three hits, with one being a double. The Lady Tide senior also had three stolen bases giving her a total of seven for the day.
Lauren Tozer picked up two hits while Bailey Bloom poked a double for Curwensville.
Clerissia Cole pitched all seven innings for the Lady Tide, scattering four hits and striking out six to get the victory.
The Lady Tide return to action on Tuesday, traveling to Brockway to play the Lady Rovers with game time set for 4:15 pm.
