CLEARFIELD – A new business is looking for a solid work force to fill 60-75 full-time jobs.
At Thursday’s work session, the Clearfield Borough Council heard an update from David Schultz, plant manager at Continental Carbonic.
Schultz said there was going to be a lot of activity near the Pennsylvania Grain Processing ethanol plant. Schultz said crews have been working to construct the buildings over the past few weeks.
However, Schultz said over the next six weeks, additional crews will be working on additional structures. He said there have been 11 different sub-contractors working at the site and that there will be between 60-75 sub-contractors working.
Schultz said the company is trying to use local and regional contractors as much as possible, depending on the skill-set and availability of materials.
Once completed, the new plant will employ between 60-75 full-time workers. Schultz said the plant will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. He said representatives from Continental Carbonic have attended four, different job fairs looking for potential employees.
He said by the end of the summer, the plant will produce 300 tons of dry ice per day, which will be shipped to the company’s buyers. He said demand for the product is extremely high.
Schultz thanked the members of council for their help in getting the project started. He said PGP has been a great partner and Schultz said the new plant should be up and running by the end of the summer.
According to previously published GANT News articles, Continental Carbonic will collect the carbon dioxide emissions produced by the PGP ethanol plant. The carbon dioxide will be processed into dry ice.
