CLEARFIELD – State Reps. Matt Gabler (R-DuBois) and Tommy Sankey (R-Clearfield) have announced the awarding of grants to three Clearfield County municipalities through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program (CCCP).

“We would like to congratulate the local government leaders who planned these projects and made them competitive for the betterment of their communities,” Gabler said. “Their hard work has made it possible for these proposals to come to fruition and improve our local quality of life.”

Financial and technical assistance is provided to local governments and non-profits through the program, which is administered through the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR).

In applying for the grants, municipalities must designate the funding to be used for planning, acquisition and development of park, recreation, conservation or greenway projects.

“This was a competitive process as nearly 500 applications were received,” said Sankey. “Applicants were required to secure as much as a 50 percent match for the grant to be awarded.”

Recipients of the grants are as follows:

  • City of DuBois – $200,000 for bleachers, dugouts, fencing and lights as part of the construction of Miracle Field.
  • Houtzdale-Woodward Recreation Authority – $200,000 for rehabilitation and further development of Houtzdale-Woodward Recreation Park. Work will include construction of basketball and volleyball courts, parking and a pedestrian walkway.
  • Lawrence Township – $28,000 for installation of playground equipment and safety resurfacing at the township park.
