HARRISBURG – Emerging from a decisive election win on Nov. 8., State Sen.-elect Wayne Langerholc Jr. (R-Cambria, Bedford and Clearfield) said his first priority as the new senator for the 35th District will be “putting people back to work.”
In recent interviews with PCN and Pennsylvania Legislative Services, Langerholc said he is “honored and incredibly humbled” to be in a position to help people in need of jobs and vital state programs and services.
As a former assistant district attorney for Cambria County, Langerholc also wants to advance efforts to launch a “multi-faceted approach to the heroin epidemic,” to include insurers, doctors, law enforcement officials and educators.
“I’ve sat across from drug dealers in the courtroom and been on drug raids at five in the morning,” said Langerholc, who led the county’s Heroin Task Force.
“Education must start at a young age, and treatment options must be available immediately,” he said.
Langerholc also acknowledged the challenges ahead as the General Assembly works to craft a budget for the 2017-18 fiscal year by the June 30, 2017 deadline. He reiterated his desire to keep a tight rein on government spending and taxes for hard-working Pennsylvanians.

A life-long resident of Richland Township, he and his fiancée, Courtney, are the proud parents of three daughters. Langerholc will be formally sworn in to office on Jan. 3, 2017.
