PUNXSUTAWNEY – The Pennsylvania State Police, Troop C, Camp Cadet Program will be held at Clarion University from Sunday, July 10 through Friday, July 15.
The camp is for boys and girls, 12 to 14 years of age, from Clarion, Clearfield, Elk, Forest, Jefferson and McKean counties. Campers will stay at the university for the entire week for the nominal fee of just $20 per participant.
The camp consists of demonstrations and speakers from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Secret Service, state Game Commission, state Fish & Boat Commission, state Liquor Control Enforcement and state police-related programs, such as the PSP Helicopter, PSP Special Emergency Response Team (SWAT) and PSP Forensic Services.
During the week, there will also be aquatic activities, such as swimming and a day canoe trip on the Clarion River at Cook Forest.
“This is a fun camp for young people to learn about law enforcement and team work. Self-discipline, military bearing and personal fitness are emphasized, but this is not a camp for problem solving of young people,” state police said.
“We have availability for additional campers and will be continuing to accept applications for a short period of time.” To obtain an application, please contact Trooper Bruce A. Morris, PSP Ridgway Station, 814-776-6136 or brmorris@pa.gov.
