CLEARFIELD – Todd Kling of Clearfield Borough’s street department suggests residents have a plan for winter storms to park vehicles off of streets and out of snow plowing lanes.
Kling said it saves so much time and allows the street plowing crew to do a more thorough job. Kling noted that the first priority for street plowing is for residential, emergency and bus routes.
Borough Operations Manager Leslie Stott pointed out that the road crew is always in motion when they are dealing with snow storms and snow removal – no matter what time of day.
Councilman James Kling reminds that the governor has already declared a state snow emergency for the coming storm. He said that vehicles that are not moved for plowing may be ticketed.
Todd Kling said the community has been very good about working with the street crew and he doesn’t anticipate any difficulties with the clean-up of the coming storm.
Code Enforcement Officer Larry Mack said he wants to commend business owners and residents for the attention to sidewalks after the areas first major snow last week. He said he was very impressed that most everyone in the borough took care of clearing the sidewalks after the snow.
Todd Kling also reported the borough’s grader was back in service and extended a hearty “Thank you” to Cleveland Brothers for their speedy response and the extent of the repairs they did to the equipment.
Stott added that the repairs were covered by the borough’s insurance, except for the deductible.
Police Chief Vince McGinnis reported that the officers, during their nightly business checks, have frequently been finding business doors left unlocked after hours. He also noted that his business emergency contact list is out of date, and asks area businesses to stop in at the borough police station to file out the form, or call to have one mailed.
Council received one bid for gas and diesel, from JJ Powell. The bid was approved for the variable rate of $1.0504 per gallon of 87-Octane gas, and $0.9316 for diesel.
Council approved to appoint Mary Walker to the Borough Shade Tree Commission. It was also approved to advertise for vacancies to be filled on the Joint Uniform Construction Code Board of Appeals.
