WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Thursday U.S. Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05) joined a bipartisan group of lawmakers in voting in favor of the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act.
The measure passed by a vote of 318 to 109 and will make several expiring tax provisions permanent. Following the bill’s passage, Thompson issued the following statement:
“The House has taken a major step forward in reducing the tax burden on American families and small businesses. By making dozens of temporary tax provisions permanent, American families and small businesses will be able to keep more of their hard earned money.
“The passage of the PATH Act ends the year-to-year guessing game, providing more certainty within the tax code. I hope to continue in this direction, to bring about comprehensive tax reform, doing away with an outdated system and closing loopholes that only can be utilized by special interests with armies of accountants.
“That is not the reality for hard working American families and small businesses. The tax code must help the economy and promote growth – and right now it is doing the opposite. America deserves more and I look forward to building upon the successes of the PATH Act in 2016.”
