Colbert’s ‘Late Show’ debut: 6 shows to watch this week

For months, we’ve been wondering, and this week we’ll finally find out what to expect from “Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

It’s the first of six shows to watch the week starting Sunday, September 6:

1. ‘Late Show with Stephen Colbert,’ Tuesday 11:35 p.m. ET, CBS

Recent web videos provide hints of what’s to come when the comedian finally inherits the CBS late-night throne from David Letterman.

He’s no longer playing a character like he did on the “Colbert Report” but the absurd sense of humor is still there, and still includes a dash of politics.

The first show will include guests George Clooney and presidential candidate Jeb Bush. It has also been extended to end at 12:44 a.m.

2. ‘Key and Peele,’ Wednesday 10 p.m., Comedy Central

After five years of memorable sketch comedy, Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele are going out on top.

The one-hour series finale will feature memorable characters and sketches, including Meegan and AndrĂ© and one last visit to Negrotown. Hopefully, they’ll bust out some dance moves one last time.

3. ‘Under the Dome,’ Thursday 10 p.m., CBS

CBS recently canceled the once-hot summer series. For better or worse, at least we’ll finally see how the saga of an entire town sealed in a dome ends.

4. ‘Ferrell Takes the Field,’ Saturday 10 p.m., HBO

Will Ferrell made news this year for playing on various major league teams during spring training.

Turns out it was for charity (and a few laughs). This week, we’ll find out how he fared playing 10 positions for 10 different teams.

5. ‘You’re the Worst,’ Wednesday 10:30, FXX

Critics found the first season of this demented love story to be quite good. Its second season kicks off this week.

6. ‘The Last Ship,’ Sunday 9 p.m., TNT

In the Season 2 finale of Michael Bay’s post-apocalyptic thriller, which takes place on a naval destroyer, it looks like all bets are off.
