GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Relief pitcher Chad Zurat of Clearfield picked up his team-best third win as Grand Junction snapped a nine-game Pioneer Rookie League losing streak by edging Great Falls 3-1 at Sam Suplizio Field Wednesday night.
The Rockies trailed 1-0 when Zurat replaced Gavin Glanz on the mound to start the seventh inning, and he turned in two scoreless innings, striking out one and allowing two hits.
He was the beneficiary of two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth. Hunter Brothers saved his fourth career victory with a 1-2-3 ninth.
The Rockies (23-28) are 3-10 in the second half.
Zurat (3-3) has lowered his earned run average to 4.23 with five scoreless innings in his last two appearances.
He has pitched 38.1 innings in 14 appearances with 16 strikeouts, 13 walks and three hit batsmen. Opponents are hitting .310 with 25 runs, 18 earned.
