Charles Robert “Charlie” Croyle Jr., 59, a resident of Philipsburg, died Monday, May 26, 2014 at his residence.
Born Aug. 10, 1954, he was the son of Charles Robert Croyle Sr. and his wife, Ann M. of Philipsburg and Harriet Ruth (Williams) Royer and her husband, Leo “Sonny” of West Decatur.
On Nov. 11, 2000 at Philipsburg, he married Susan L. (Maines) Croyle, who survives at home.
In addition to his wife and parents, he’s survived by two sons, Joshua J. Croyle and fiancée, Lindsey Petrilla of Ebensburg and Adam M. Croyle and his fiancée, Lora Peters of Philipsburg; two step-daughters, Heather Maines and her fiancé, Dave Cummings of Morrisdale and Angel Reams and her fiancé, Colton Trego of Shamokin.
He’s also survived by five brothers and sisters, Terrie Marie Katchik and her husband, Greg “Guz” and Sandy Corrigan, both of Philipsburg, Gary John Croyle and his wife, Sue of Allport, Lori Orndorff and her husband, James of Roundhill, Va., and Shawn Croyle and his wife Heidi of Cumberland, Md.; a granddaughter, Aubrey and two step-grandsons, Zack and Axl.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harry “Zeke” and Esther (Molleca) Williams and his paternal grandparents, Ray and Geraldine (Fowler) Croyle.
He was a 1972 graduate of the Philipsburg-Osceola High School. He had attended Penn State University. For 20-plus years, he owned his own business Croyle Quality Contracting and had also been employed with Local Carpenters Union No. 645.
He loved to fly fish, tie flies and hunt. He was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan. He was a former golfer, bowler and pool shooter.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St., Philipsburg, with the Rev. Timothy D. Richmond officiating. Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
