Betty R. Hanner, 79, formerly of DuBois, died Friday, April 25, 2014 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Born Jan. 19, 1935 in Mayport, she was the daughter of the late Harold Shirey and Annie Elizabeth (Hilliard) Shirey.
On July 4, 1959, she married James J. Hanner. He preceded her in death in 2005.
She retired from Brockway Glass after many years of service. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church.
She is survived by her son, Michael J. Hanner and his wife, Karen of Saudi Arabia and her daughter, Anne Marie Hanner of DuBois; two sisters, Norma Helmheckel of Ohio and Linda Reinsel of Florida; and five grandchildren, Nicholas, Jenna and Erinn Hanner and Ryan and Alexi-Jo Hanner.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Shirey and two sisters, Thelma Cowan and Judy Hook.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Catherine’s Cemetery.
