DUBOIS – On Monday night, the DuBois City Council accepted Police Chief Mike DiLullo’s retirement.
Assistant Police Chief Ron LaRotonda will take over the police department for the second time. Six DuBois City police officers, the police secretary and family members attended the meeting.
“I think he has done an excellent job. In the time he’s been here, he’s filled a void, and we greatly appreciate the expertise that he has brought to the table,” said City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio.
DiLullo said he’d been a member of the police force for 16.5 years. He’s spent the past four years as police chief. He decided to retire at a younger age due to discussions with family and Suplizio.
In addition to serving as police chief, DiLullo has been operating his own business. In order to make more time for family, he decided to concentrate on one job.
“I want to thank all of you for the opportunity to serve for the last 16.5 years,” said DiLullo.
Solicitor Toni Cherry commented, “I have always felt you’ve displayed great grace under fire, and you have been thoroughly tested many times.” Council members also praised Dilullo for his service.
