Bison Hold Off Chucks, Escape with 37-33 Win

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Despite losing four out of the last five bouts, the Clearfield Bison were able to hold on for a 37-33 win over the host Punxsutawney Chucks to raise their record to 3-1 on the young season.

As in the previous two dual meet victories the Bison were able to use the fall to decide the match. The Bison had five falls to account for 30 of the 37 points on the night.

Picking up falls were Mike Beck, Travis Ogden, Nate Lash, Zane Morgan, and Josiah McClarren. Thayne Morgan picked up a major decision, while Jake Verchick added a regular decision to finish out the scoring.

Beck and Ogden remain tied atop the leaderboard in wins for the Bison with identical 7-3 records. Verchick (6-1) and Noah Cline (6-3) are right behind with six.

The Bison are off until after the New Year when they travel to Meadville on January 3 for their annual trip to the Tool City Tournament.
