James W. Moriarity, 84 of Clearfield died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013 at his residence. He was the husband of four years to Linda McPherson of Clearfield.
Born May 12, 1929 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late Leafy Moriarity.
Mr. Moriarity was a member of West Side United Methodist Church, Clearfield. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of both World War II and Korea.  He was employed as a truck driver for Taftco and retired from Keystone Carriers.
He enjoyed camping, fishing and loved wolves.
In addition to his wife, surviving are five children, Karen L. Middleton and her husband, Denny and Jodie L. Irwin and husband, Roy, both of Clearfield; Kevin J. Moriarity of Osceola Mills; Kathie J. Timblin and her husband Arnold of Hillsdale; and Keith A. Moriarity and his wife, JoAnna of Curwensville; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Moriarity of Holidaysburg; two step-sons, Blair D. McPherson and his wife, Sharon of Jamesburg, NJ and Joseph D. McPherson of Pennsylvania; 14 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and his dog, Tippy.
He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father; his first wife, Freda Moriarity; his infant daughter, Lorrie Moriarity; his daughter, Jessie Dawn Gisewhite; his son, James W. Moriarity Jr.; and a brother, Walter Moriarity.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of James W. Moriarity will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc., 312 E. Locust St., Clearfield, with the Rev. Dr. Joleen A. Willis officiating. A time to share memories and have an opportunity to view will be held from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home.
