Jane A. Smeal, 81, of Woodland died Monday, Aug. 5, 2013 at Christ the King Manor, DuBois. She was born April 19, 1932 in Faunce, the daughter of John and Margaret (Showden) Teats.
She was a homemaker and the owner and operator of Smeal’s Gas and Grocery Store of Mineral Springs. She was Protestant by faith.
She’s survived by six children, David Smeal and his wife, Linda, Randy Smeal and his wife, Alyce, Charles “Chuck” Smeal and his wife, Debra, all of Clearfield, Thomas Smeal and James Smeal and his wife, Rae Jean, all of Woodland and Lorrie Mathews and her partner, Ron Mathews of Grampian; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, John Teats and his wife, Diane of Allentown and a sister, Phyllis Stauffer of
Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LeRoy V. Smeal, whom she married Dec. 26, 1950 and who died Sept. 17, 2001; two sons, Gary Joseph Smeal and Jody Smeal; a grandson, Brock David Peters; a brother, LeRoy Teats; and two sisters, Kathryn Yarger and Emily Sommerville.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sam Maines officiating. Burial will be in the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.
Friends will be received 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Thursday and from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of the service Friday at the funeral home.
