DUBOIS – The Pennsylvania and Federal Emergency Management Agencies have inspected Sandy Township’s flood damage, reported Township Manager Dick Castonguay at Monday night’s supervisor’s meeting.
Two, different damage assessment teams completed the inspection process. One team focused on the township’s damage while the other looked at the residential damage, he said.
So far the township assessment team has been the only one to provide an estimate for the flood damage. The damage to roadways and other infrastructure has been estimated at $900,000, he said.
Castonguay said Clear Run Road will remain closed for another week or two, and only the six residents who live along the roadway are permitted to drive upon it. He said anyone caught bypassing barricades will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Castonguay said residents have voiced concerns about people not only driving along Clear Run Road, but also speeding on it. He warned that the workers who are performing repairs are operating machinery and under the assumption there isn’t any traffic.
According to Castonguay, the Old Bliss Road bridge project has been pushed back about a week. He said it had taken three or four days to clean up the flood damage at the project’s site. He said the bridge arrived on July 3 and can be set when the roadway is ready.
