Temporary Alternate Detour Starts Tomorrow for Ross Hill Road Bridge

STATE COLLEGE – Work to replace a bridge in Gregg Township, Centre County, is moving forward, with PennDOT planning to enforce a three-day change in the detour for the Ross Hill Road (Township Road 468) project.

Starting tomorrow, traffic will use a temporary, alternate detour through Friday. The temporary detour will direct traffic to use Route 45 (Earlystown Road), Route 2012 (Penns Cave Road), and Route 2007 (Brush Mountain Road). After Friday, the detour will revert to using just Route 45 and Route 2012.

When work on the project is complete in late November, PennDOT will be able to remove the bridge from the list of structurally deficient bridges in Centre County. Replacement will provide area drivers with safer, more efficient travel across a modern structure. Motorists will also benefit from an improved intersection at Ross Hill Road and Route 2012 as well as two-way traffic capacity on the bridge.

The project includes replacement of the old bridge with a new concrete box culvert, construction of a temporary access road and installation of erosion and sedimentation measures. Nestlerode Contracting Co. Inc. of Lock Haven is the contractor for this $600,000 job.

Drivers are reminded to follow detour signs, obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.
