Daniel B. Hibner, 71 of Erie died Monday, April 1, 2013 at the Erie VA Medical Center in Erie. Born Jan. 27, 1942 in DuBois, he was the son of the late DeLose E. Hibner II and Helen (Landis) Hibner.
He attended the Second Avenue Grade School and DuBois Junior High School. He was a 1960 graduate of the DuBois Area High School, where he was on the wrestling team and played football.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in November of 1960. He had training at Fort Knox, KY and Fort Gordon, GA. After training, he was stationed at Thule, Greenland and Fort Richie, MD as a military policeman. He was discharged in November of 1963.
He attended Robert Morris Junior College in 1964 and 1965. He moved to Erie in 1966 and lived there until his death. He worked at Kaiser Aluminum from 1966 to 1997.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting guns. He enjoyed watching high school and college wrestling, and watching college and professional football. He belonged to the American Legion in Erie and Gem City Gun Clubs.
He is survived by one daughter, Debra L. Hibner of California, one brother, Richard K. Hibner of Harrisburg, a sister-in-law, Jane Hibner of DuBois, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers, DeLose E. Hibner III and David L. Hibner.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Friday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
