Elsie B. Crandell, 90, of Clearfield died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013. She was the wife of 57 years to the late William “Bill” C. Crandell, who died May 6, 1998.
Born March 8, 1922, she was the daughter of the late James Henry and Blanche Flegal Carson.
Mrs. Crandell was a member of the Kerr Addition United Methodist Church. Her past activities included Young at Heart Square Dancers, Chicklamoose Dancers; Third Ward Fire Co. Auxiliary, Susquehanna Campers Club and Area Agency on Aging Auxiliary.
Surviving are one son and four daughters, William E. “Bill” Crandell and his wife, June of Clearfield; Barbara M. Hile and her husband, Dennis of Cazenovia, NY; Connie L.
Dillon and her husband, Gene Zazworsky of Houtzdale; Carol L. Dixon and her husband, Archie of Lucernemines; and Cathy R. Vanish and her husband, Dennis of Madera; 11 grandchildren, Melinda Hile, Dwane Crandell, Denise Hile, Tammy Bower, Trudi Owen, Kathy Baughman, Laura Lance, Jodi Fox, Jeffrey Dixon, Brian Vanish and Darrell Vanish; 21 great-grandchildren; two great great-granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, two brothers, Roy and Clarence Carson; four sisters, Marie Schucker, Mildred Clark, Melva McKenrick and Thelma Guelich.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Elsie B. Crandell will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc., 312 E. Locust St., Clearfield, PA 16830 with the Rev. Mark S. Brower officiating. A time to share memories will be from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
