MAHAFFEY – Betina Nicklas, director of Veterans Affairs for Clearfield County, and Sally Hurd, center manager at the Mahaffey Center for Active Living, invite the public to the center on Feb. 6. Nicklas will speak about various benefits available to veterans and their spouses.
The program will begin at 11 a.m., and topics to be discussed include Aid-and-Attendance (cost-of-care), claims processes, health care, and widow’s death pension.  The Veterans Affairs (VA) office additionally provides Information and Referral for veterans and their families.
There are no reservations needed for the program. However, those who are interested in having lunch at the center after the program are asked to call the day before to make a meal reservation. Any Clearfield County individual 60 years of age or older may contribute to the cost of the meal on a donation basis. The cost to those under age 60 is $3.50.
