SANDY TOWNSHIP – One woman was flown to the Altoona Hospital with severe injuries following an alcohol-related, two-vehicle accident Sunday on Sykes Street Extension in Sandy Township.
According to Sandy Township police, a 30-year-old Sykesville woman lost control of her vehicle and impacted another driven by a 26-year-old Stump Creek woman. The latter vehicle then flipped before coming to rest on its side. The Sykesville woman’s vehicle exited the roadway and came to rest in a field.
The Stump Creek woman was flown to Altoona for treatment of severe injuries. The Sykesville woman failed several field sobriety tests and was transported to the DuBois Regional Medical Center for a legal blood draw.
Charges are currently pending.
