CLEARFIELD – The investigation is continuing after a vehicle was struck by an explosive at 7:43 p.m. Thursday along state Route 879 and Interstate 80, according to the Lawrence Township Police Department.
A Shiloh man was operating his vehicle when an explosive object struck his windshield area. It landed between his vehicle’s windshield and hood. The man pulled into the Snappy’s Convenience Store parking lot, where the object subsequently detonated and smelled like sulfur.
The explosive object damaged his vehicle’s windshield, undercarriage and left front fender and hood areas. Two Snappy’s employees advised police that they observed a “large, flash/explosion” coming from the vehicle in the parking lot, police said.
Police said they haven’t determined the source of the explosive object.
