Carol Lawhead, 71, of Philipsburg died Tuesday, Aug. 14 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born May 7, 1941, she was the daughter of the late John M. and Evelyn E. (Fenton) Snyder.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Lawhead was a 1958 graduate of the Philipsburg High School. She worked at the former General Cigar Factory and retired from Centre Engineering. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, putting puzzles together and solving crossword puzzles. She was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
She married Thomas L. Lawhead, who survives at home Oct. 21, 1961 at the First Baptist Church, Philipsburg. She’s survived by two daughters, Tina Butterworth and her husband, Brian of Philipsburg and Lisa Brooks and her husband, William of Osceola Mills.
Surviving are two sisters and one brother, Janet Watson and her husband, James of Hamburg, NY, Barbara Bair of Philipsburg and the Rev. John A. Snyder and his wife, Annette of Mount Joy; five grandchildren Justin Butterworth, Evan Butterworth, Logan Butterworth, Erika Brooks and Alyssa Brooks; two great-grandsons, Colby Butterworth and Cooper Butterworth and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Joan Bair.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 North Centre St., Philipsburg, with the Rev. John A. Snyder officiating.
Burial will be at Crown Crest Memorial Park, Clearfield.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Friday at the funeral home.
