PHILIPSBURG – Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District is pleased to announce that Timothy Bainey Sr. is the inaugural recipient of the “P-O Learners, Today’s Leaders” Award.

Each year, a P-O alum will be honored for his/her life achievements and invited to speak at graduation. A plaque will be placed in the new Wall of Fame, where alumni and academic achievements will be recognized for years to come.

Bainey, a 1976 graduate of the Philipsburg-Osceola Area Senior High School, established T.L. Bainey Inc. in 1988.  He began simply with one truck, and the company has grown to employ more than 50 people as of 2012.  Bainey also owns DRT Enterprises, a professional racing team that has successfully competed in NASCAR’s Top Divisions, and he has personally driven in national professional events at a variety of speedways, including Pocono, Atlanta and Charlotte.  The Mountie graduate is currently the proud owner of CNB Bank Raceway Park in Clearfield.  Tim is a former P-O assistant wrestling coach and was a PA state wrestling silver medalist in high school.  He has applied the exceptional work ethic he developed during his P-O high school career to his business practice where he approaches his job with the same persistent devotion and compassion.  Tim consistently supports all school events and has become a community leader by his example. He is the proud father of three sons; Tim, Jr., Randy, and Dan, and husband of Delores “Moe” Bainey, all of whom work with him in his business ventures.

The new alumni award and Wall of Fame project at P-O is the work of the high school’s public relations committee, comprised of teachers Lisa Chorle, Michael Minarchick, Rick Shetrom, Greg Minarchick, Larry Kolbe and Tracy Vipond and Dena Cipriano, district Public Relations Officer/Grant Writer. Students in John Bober’s classes constructed the Wall of Fame, which is located in the gymnasium lobby.
