MEN’S SWIMMING
CLARION – Junior Mark Krchnak of Clearfield won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:01.71 and swam the second leg for the Clarion 200 medley relay foursome that was victorious in 1:38.41 at the Clarion Fall Classic in the Waldo S. Tippin Natatorium Saturday.
Grove City outpointed the hosts 195-138 in the competition open to all members of both squads.
In addition to besting 14 rivals in the breaststroke, Krchnak placed seventh in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.10 seconds, ninth in the 50 freestyle in 23.47 and 11th in the 100 backstroke in 1:04.17. The latter three races had 20 to 29 swimmers.
Krchnak also swam the anchor leg for the Golden Eagle ‘B’ 400 free relay team that placed fourth in 3:29.56.
Last season, Krchnak finished second in the 100 breast, third in the 200 breast and eighth in the 200 individual medley at the
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships, setting personal records in all three events during the preliminaries, and was on the gold medal 200 medley relay and silver medal 400 medley relay teams.

FOOTBALL
EDINBORO – Junior redshirt linebacker Nate Sipes of Curwensville once again topped the Clarion (1-7) defense with nine tackles while senior redshirt safety Shawn Sopic of Curwensville was in on three stops against Edinboro (6-2) at Sox Harrison Stadium Saturday evening.
All of the scoring in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference game that attracted 3,178 fans came in the first half as the Golden
Eagles dipped to 1-4 in the Western Division.
Sipes registered three solo tackles in leading Clarion in stops for the fifth game this season.
He is second in the PSAC with his 76 tackles and 9.5 average. His 49 assists are the most among conference defenders.
Sipes also has broken up one pass and recovered two fumbles.
Sopic is the No. 2 for Clarion in tackles with 44, including 20 solo stops. He has broken up one pass and forced two fumbles.

LOCK HAVEN – Redshirt sophomore wide receiver Jesse Hoover of Curwensville had his second-best game of the season with five receptions for 41 yards and freshman running back Jed Greslick of Grampian averaged 25.3 yards on three kickoff returns for Lock Haven (0-7) against Slippery Rock (7-1) Saturday.
A turnout of 2,536 at Hubert Jack Stadium saw The Rock, ranked No. 22 in NCAA Division II by the American Football Coaches Association last week, send the Eagles to their 39th consecutive defeat, which ties the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference record and is the longest losing streak in the nation for any division.
Hoover, who has started six games, is second on the team with 26 catches for 311 yards. He has scored twice.
Greslick, in four games, has carried seven times for 23 yards and returned 11 kickoffs for a team-high 23.6-yard average.

OBERLIN, Ohio – Junior defensive back David Kalgren of Curwensville made four solo tackles, returned two punts for 20 yards and returned one kickoff seven yards for Oberlin (2-5) in a 24-21 non-conference loss to visiting Washington (Mo.) University Saturday.
The Yeomen made it interesting for the 432 Senior Day fans in Savage Stadium by scoring their three touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
Kalgren, the starter at right cornerback, has 25 solo stops and two assists. He has picked off one pass and broken up five others.
Kalgren tops Oberlin with 16 kickoff returns for a 22.3-yard average and six punt returns for an 8.3 average.
He’s third on the team in all-purpose yards with 448, including 41 on his interception runback.

BOISE, Idaho – Junior placekicker Parker Herrington of Clearfield recorded his third consecutive two-field goal performance and also booted two extra points for Air Force (3-4) in Saturday’s 37-26 loss to Mountain West Conference newcomer and No. 5-ranked Boise State (7-0) in Bronco Stadium.
A crowd of 34,196 saw him end the first half with a 37-yard field goal and make a 39-yarder midway through the third quarter to pull the Falcons to within one touchdown, 20-13, for the first of three times in the second half.
Herrington had a PAT blocked after Air Force scored with 3:30 left to cut Boise State’s lead to 34-26.
He continues to pace the Falcons in points with 48 on nine field goals in 10 attempts and 21 extra points in 24 tries. His 6.9 points-per-game are second among kickers and fifth overall in the conference.
Herrington’s 1.29 average for field goals is tied for the top spot and his field goal percentage of 90.0 is No. 1.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Junior wide receiver Jarrin Campman of Clearfield and senior wideout David Ryan of Clearfield saw action in once-beaten Lycoming’s 48-14 Middle Atlantic Conference victory over host Stevenson (1-6) with 3,500 fans on hand at Mustang Stadium Saturday.
The easy win was the sixth for the Warriors, who stand third in the MAC at 4-1.
A starter all season, Campman failed to post a reception for the first time to slip to 10th in receiving yards per game (43.9) and a tie for 10th in receptions per game (3.3) in the MAC.
He shares the team lead in catches with 23 and is second in receiving yards with 307. He has scored two touchdowns.
Campman also has one punt return for 11 yards.
Ryan has appeared in four games.

HUNTINGDON – Junior running back Isiah Morgan of Clearfield gained three yards on his lone carry for Juniata (0-7) in a 28-3 Centennial Conference loss to visiting Muhlenberg (4-3) at Knox Stadium Saturday.
Morgan has 20 carries for 44 yards and two pass receptions for 17 yards for the Eagles, 0-6 in the conference.
Their school-record losing streak stands at 19 games.

PITTSBURGH – Redshirt sophomore lineman Nick Redden of Clearfield played at guard and center as well as blocking for the kicking units as Duquesne (6-2) turned back Wagner (1-6) 37-21 Saturday to remain on the heels of Albany (N.Y.) State in the Northeast Conference race.
A crowd of 2,098 at Rooney Field saw the Dukes claim sole possession of second place at 4-1.
Redden has appeared in every game for the Dukes.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Freshman linebacker Andrew Redden of Clearfield saw special teams action for St. Francis (1-7) in a 49-23 non-conference loss to Youngstown State (4-3) in front of 11,313 fans at Stambaugh Stadium Saturday.
He has played in six games for the Red Flash.

WOMEN’S SOCCER
CRESSON – Forward Pamela Pride of Clearfield finished her junior season with 12 shots, three on goal, for Mount Aloysius, which lost its final two Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference games last week.
The Lady Mounties, winless in their last 22 games, were blanked 3-0 by Franciscan (7-7) Wednesday and 7-0 at Penn State Behrend (10-6-1) Saturday to close 0-8-1 in the AMCC and 0-16-1 overall. They were shut out 13 times.
Pride played in 16 games, starting 13.
