MORRIS TOWNSHIP – A 23-year-old Clearfield man suffered “moderate” injuries in a single-vehicle accident Friday morning on state Route 53 and was subsequently flown to the Altoona Hospital for medical treatment, the Clearfield-based state police reported.
The man wasn’t wearing his safety belt at the time of the accident. He’ll face charges of driving under the influence and numerous traffic violations, police said.
According to the report, the man was traveling south on SR 53 at 2:22 a.m., when he lost control of his vehicle while negotiating a left curve in the roadway. His vehicle then struck the guiderails off the right-hand side.
After impact, the man’s vehicle traveled back across both lanes of SR 53 and came to a rest against the guiderails, blocking the northbound lane, police said. His vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the accident scene.
