Charles Edgar Pepperday, 77 of Philipsburg passed away Oct. 26, 2010 at Mt. Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield.
Born on Nov. 25, 1932 in Chester Hill, he was the son of the late Walter & Hattie (Daughenbaugh) Pepperday Jr.
On Dec. 15, 1957 in Philipsburg he married Clara Joann (Hazelton) Pepperday, who survives at home.
He is survived by siblings Fred William Pepperday and his wife Joy of Lancaster, Rodney Lee Pepperday and his wife Sandra of South Philipsburg and Beverly Thomas and her husband Robert of South Philipsburg; brother-in-law Robert Drury of Williamsville, NY and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Walter Pepperday and Franklin Pepperday; sisters-in-law Jean Drury and Olive Hazelton and a brother-in-law, William Hazelton.
He was a 1951 graduate of Philipsburg High School and a 1958 graduate of Lock Haven Teachers College.
For 35 years he taught Social Studies at the Philipsburg Junior High and retired in 1993 from the Philipsburg Osceola School District.
He was a life-long member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, South Philipsburg.
He was a member of the retired teachers association.
He was a Staff Sergeant in US Army he served during the Korean Conflict.
Funeral Services will be held at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg, on Oct. 29 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Scott Hartsock and Rev. Brenda K. Leigey officiating.
Military honors will be conducted at the funeral home by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.
Burial will be at Philipsburg Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Oct. 28 from 2 until 4 & 6 until 8 p.m.
