Samuel Miceli, age 79, of Donahue Road in Luthersburg, PA (formerly of Brockway, PA) died Oct. 11, 2010 at his residence.
He was born on May 4, 1931 in Shawmut, PA. He was the son of the late Ross G. and Anna (Caruso) Miceli.
He married E. Delores “Dee” Cuthbert on Oct. 12, 1996. She survives.
He served in the United States Army as an Army Sergeant First Class. He served during the Korean War in Berlin, Germany and retired in 1983 after 24 years of service.
He was a mechanic for DuFast Transit, Highway Equipment and American Can Co. in Washington, NJ, and he was the owner of Sammy-Dee’s Resale Shop, a furniture repair shop.
He was a member of La Societe Des 40 Hommes ET 8 Chevaux. He was a correspondent and treasurer for Voiture 670 of Elk and Clearfield County. He was also a member of the James J. Patterson Post 813 Veterans of Foreign Wars, the George D. Montgomery American Legion Post 17, the Bilger’s Rock Association, the DuBois Area Honor Guard and the 40/8 Special Olympics.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking, yard sales, game shows, fishing and simply enjoyed life.
In addition to his wife Dee, he is survived by his children: Samuel W. Miceli, Jr. and his wife, Barbara of Falls Creek, PA, Lisa Malmgren and her husband, David of Reynoldsville, PA, Ross Miceli of Ridgway, PA, Harry Rhoades of Luthersburg, PA, Tami Tripp and her husband Norm of East Springfield, PA, Marti Handley of Luthersburg, PA, four sisters, Rosalie Kopp of Allentown, PA, Rose Ellermeyer of Walston, PA, Margaret Sabino of Oil City, PA and Deanna Rutko of Ebensburg, PA, 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Mary Boldon and Joann Slimack, and 3 brothers, Pete Miceli, Tony Miceli and Joseph Miceli, and one great grandchild, Mercedes Friend.
Friends will be received on Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at the Goble Baronick Funeral Home.
The DuBois Area Honor Guard will conduct a military ritual service on Oct. 14 at 11:45 a.m.
A funeral service will be held on Oct. 14 at 12:00 p.m. from the funeral home with Pastor Chris Ramsey officiating.
Full military honors will be accorded from the funeral home.
Burial will be in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA.
