JOHNSONBURG – The Curwensville Lady Tide got off to a slow start after the trip north to Johnsonburg by dropping the first set 10-25, but then swept the final three games to win the match three games to one. The winning scores were 25-21, 25-13, and 30-28.
Head coach Sandy Bailor was impressed with her team’s effort after the first game loss, ” This team played with heart and determination. We came in the first set very flat and got our butts kicked. They settled down and started playing agressively.  I can’t say enough about this whole team’s effort.  Taylor (Thornhill) and Rachel (Michaels) again both played great net games. Madison’s (Peterman) and Audrey’s (Thomas) sets were where these girls could attack the ball with force, and the trio of Hannah (Bressler), Savannah (Strickland) and Ricki (Wells) doing the job at passing the ball. Tonight’s game was a huge win for us.”
Stat leaders:
Taylor Thornhill – 18 kills, 1 block and 7 service points; Rachel Michaels – 14 kills and 7 blocks;  Audrey Thomas – 18 assists;  Madison Peterman – 15 assists and 5 service points; Ricki Wells – 28 digs and 6 service points; Savannah Strickland – 22 digs and 13 service points; and   Hannah Bressler – 22 digs.
With the win the Lady Tide up their record to 8-2. They will travel to DuBois, who Curwensville beat 3-2 on opening night, on Thursday.
The junior varsity lost 2-1 by the scores of  25-18, 21-25, 11-15 to drop to  6-4 on the year.
