They say everything is bigger in Texas. The biggest thing NASCAR has dealt with this weekend at the Texas Motor Speedway was the weather.
Persistent rain and cool conditions met drivers all weekend. On Sunday, Mother Nature once again came to wreak havoc on the Sprint Cup Series. After waiting nearly 90 minutes past the scheduled start time, the Samsung Mobile 500 was postponed by officials. Track driers were at the track, but the time to dry the entire track would have been too long. Combine that with the damp conditions and cool temperatures, it would have been nearly impossible.
NASCAR will run a double-header Monday for both the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series. Saturday’s Nationwide race was postponed as well for rain and was slated to run following the Cup race on Sunday.
Coverage of the Samsung Mobile 500 will begin at 12 noon ET on FOX. For those wanting to watch the Nationwide race after, it is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET, following the Cup race. Coverage will be on ESPN2.
