A. LaRue Young, 80, of Bells Landing, died Saturday at the DuBois Regional Me3dical Center West.
Born Sept. 27, 1929 in Bloom Township, Clearfield County, she was the daughter of Charles W. and Captola Catherine (Witherite) Gearhart. She was a homemaker.Â
Mrs. Young along with her late husband participated in numerous local gospel events and was affiliated with many Gospel Music Associations nationally as well as in Pennsylvania until her death. She attended the Mahaffey Church of the Brethren.
On April 3, 1946 in Bells Landing, she wed James I. Young, who preceded her in death on April 17, 1999. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers Charles C. Gearhart, Glenn R. Gearhart, infant Kenneth D. Gearhart and Russell R. Greene. She was also preceded in death by two sisters Catherine A. McClinsey and Thelma M. Kline. She was the last member of her generation.
Surviving are two children, James R. Young and his wife, Jean, of Bells Landing, and Shirley J. Bennett and her husband, James of Curry Run. Also surviving are six grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Services for Mrs. Young will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with Pastor Scott Schultz officiating. Interment will be in the Watts Cemetery Redden Hill, Curwensville.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on from 4 – 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
