Obituary Notice: Norman James Quick, Sr.

Norman James Quick, Sr., 84 of Philipsburg, died Saturday at Windy Hill Village, Philipsburg. He was the last of his generation.

Born on Nov. 10, 1925 in Morrisdale, he was the son of the late William James and Mary Elverta (Williams) Quick. He was a graduate of Morris Township High School and retired from Beckwith Machinery Co., Clearfield. He was a member of the First Church of Christ, Philipsburg.

A veteran of the US Army, he served during the Korean Conflict. He received the Purple Heart, US Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations Korean Service Medal Ribbon and United Nations Korean Service Medal.

He wed Rose Marie (Ridgway) Quick on Nov. 28, 1953 in Philipsburg. She preceded him in death on July 11, 2007.

He’s survived by two sons, Norman J. Quick Jr. and his wife, Cynthia, of Reading, and Tim D. Quick and his wife, Christy, of Philipsburg, and two daughters, Beth R. Russell, of Philipsburg, and Dana Marie Lansberry and her husband, Rick, of Philipsburg.

Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, B.J. Snedden, Meganne Quick, Tim Snedden, Tyler Quick, Alesha Lansberry, Chelsea Quick, Nathan Quick, R.J. Lansberry, Caleb Quick and Kristen Alauna Lansberry. He’s survived one great-grandson, Logan James.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, a daughter, Kim Renee Quick and a sister, Irene Graham.

A funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at th eFirst Church of Christ, 1437 Tyrone Pike, Philipsburg, with the Rev. William R. Fowler officiating.  Burial will be at Summit Hill Cemetery, Morrisdale, where military honors will be conducted by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.

Friends will be received from 2 -4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the First Church of Christ, 1437 Tyrone Pike, Philipsburg, PA 16866, or to the American Cancer Society, 26 S. Second St. Clearfield, PA 16830.
