WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – The DuBois-based State Police reported a death investigation at approximately 2:50 a.m. Saturday in Washington Township, Jefferson County.

According to the report, Joshua Michael Giles, 23 of DuBois, died after a known person backed a vehicle down a residential driveway along state Route 219 and accidentally ran him over. Police stated that both had attended a large party that also involved underage drinking.

Police stated that the vehicle operator fled the scene and traveled north on SR 219 after seeing the body in the driveway and realizing it had been ran over. Police stated that a 911 call was placed by another party guest. They said, however, Giles died at the scene.

Police stated that approximately 35 guests fled the scene after the incident. They stated that one guest remained until the police and medical personnel arrived at the scene.
