CLEARFIELD – Bridge preservation work will begin Wednesday on the Karthaus Truss Bridge on state Route 879. The bridge is located in the village of Karthaus, on the Clearfield and Centre counties line. With the project start-up, motorists can expect slight delays, temporary signals and an alternating traffic pattern. These new traffic patterns will be in place through Labor Day and lane width will be restricted to ten feet.
Work on the Karthaus truss includes painting, deck and structure repairs and miscellaneous items. All work is weather dependent. Francis J. Palo, Inc. of Clarion is the contractor on the $1.2 million project. Crews will be working each weekday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Work is scheduled to be complete by mid-October.
PennDOT reminds motorists to move through construction zones with caution, obey posted speed limits and always buckle up. For more information on roadway construction, visit PennDOT Web site.
